Day 1: Bin El Ouidane

Welcome to the land of the setting sun, ‘Marhba’ as they say in Morocco. We leave the hustle and bustle of Marrakesh behind us and reach the town of Demnate in the north of the High Atlas. From Demante, we head towards Ouzoud, where you can visit the waterfalls on your own. We then continue through mountainous landscapes to Bin El Ouidane. Dinner and overnight stay at Dar L'Eau Vive.

Day 2: Boumalne Dades

We leave Bin El Ouidane behind us and drive into the valley of Ait Bouguemez. Let's set off for a whole day on mountain tracks. Today we will cross the High Atlas from north to south on the eastern side. In our off-road vehicles, we start in the valley of Ait Bouguemez and reach the Valley of Roses. We pass three passes at an altitude of around 3,000 metres and make our first stop at the rocks that are part of the UNESCO natural heritage site and where dinosaur footprints can be seen.

After the first pass, we put on our hiking boots and set off on a two-and-a-half-hour hike, part of which leads through the river. We hike up to one of the springs that feed the Oued Mgoun. For lunch, we have the choice between a picnic in the great outdoors or a meal in the home of one of the village families.

We continue our journey to cross the other two passes, and little by little the Valley of Roses comes into view. We leave the Valley of Roses and take the road that leads us to the Dadès Valley and on to high rock faces that bear witness to the power of geology.

Dinner and overnight stay at the ‘Chez Ichou’ accommodation.

Days 3 & 4: Erg Chebbi Desert

We leave the Dadesch Valley and drive to Erfoud. We leave the mountains behind us and the desert landscape quickly gains prominence. We have lunch outside the town of Erfoud in idyllic and peaceful surroundings in the middle of the stone desert. In addition to a delicious meal in the cool air, we can also take a refreshing dip in the pool. We continue our journey from Erfoud to Merzouga. The large dunes are already visible in the distance. We ride into the Sahara on the back of a camel and make a detour through the dunes before reaching our camp. Little by little, we feel the peace and tranquillity of this place. Dinner and overnight stay at Madu Luxury Camp.

On the second day, we explore life in the desert. We set off in a 4x4 through the dunes of Merzouga, the highest and longest in Morocco. Our route takes us to the homes of real desert nomads, where we can spend time with a family. We discover the village of Khamlia, which plays an important role in the history of the desert and the caravans from Sudan. In a small traditional house, Gnawa music takes us on a journey.

Dinner and overnight stay at Riad Madu.

Day 5: Agdz

We leave Merzouga and head towards Nkob. The road is pleasant and flat, and the landscape is desert-like. From Nkob, we take the road to Agdz. In the distance, we can see Mount Kissane towering over the small town.

Dinner and overnight stay at the Hotel Hara Oasis.

Days 6 & 7: Marrakesh

From Agdz, we drive towards the city of Ouarzazate and on to Marrakesh. We pass the Tichka Pass and reach the red city. Overnight stay at the Riad Chergui.

The penultimate day in Marrakesh offers a cultural and historical mosaic, starting with the medina surrounded by a 19 km long city wall. We quickly immerse ourselves in the vibrant heart of Marrakesh by starting at the foot of the Koutoubia towards Jemaa El Fna Square, where storytellers, musicians and snake charmers catch our attention. We then discover the Saadian Tombs and take time to lose ourselves in the narrow streets of the Mellah district. During our visit to the Bahia Palace, we admire the unique architecture that takes us back to the time of the sultans. The day continues in the medina with the imposing Medersa Ben Youssef, a true architectural masterpiece, and finally the colourful alleys of the old town and its souks, where every stall has handcrafted treasures that we can haggle for with the help of our guide.

Overnight stay at the Riad Chergui.
