I’ll admit it: when I stepped on board Mein Schiff RELAX, I was curious — but also a little sceptical. A big ship, a lot of guests, and the promise of “relax”. Spoiler alert: it works. Sailing between the Canary Islands and Madeira, I took the time to really experience the ship, not just visit it. Here’s my honest take, summed up in five points.
Mein Schiff RELAX isn’t a ship for those looking for non-stop action or loud entertainment. It’s for people who enjoy good food, real comfort, quality relaxation — and the occasional surprise along the way.

1. Comfort
What struck me most about the comfort on Mein Schiff RELAX is what you don’t feel: no rush, no stress, no constant sense of being surrounded by crowds. The cabins are spacious and well designed, and the balcony quickly becomes your favourite place on board. Morning coffee, endless ocean — simple, but perfect.
A small but smart detail: free water refill stations on the decks. Practical, sustainable, and genuinely guest-friendly.
2. Spa
If one area truly lives up to the name “RELAX”, it’s the spa. Bright, calm and open towards the sea, it naturally invites you to slow down.
And then there’s the experience I didn’t expect to enjoy as much as I did: the cold chamber. Yes, it’s cold. Very cold. But stepping out afterwards, you feel surprisingly energised — a slightly crazy experience that you’ll definitely remember.

3. Food
Eating on board feels easy and enjoyable. The Harbour Market lets you choose exactly what you’re in the mood for: Asian flavours, Italian classics, fresh and light dishes — all prepared with care.
What I really appreciated is the Premium Alles Inkusive concept: no constant checking of what’s included and what isn’t. You simply enjoy, explore and indulge. And if you’re looking for something extra special, there are excellent gourmet options too.
4. Entertainment
I thought I knew what to expect. I was wrong. My personal highlight? The Silent Party. Headphones on, different music channels, people dancing to completely different rhythms — and yet the atmosphere is fantastic. It’s funny, unexpected and far more addictive than you’d think. Definitely worth trying at least once.

5. Atmosphere
The overall atmosphere on Mein Schiff RELAX feels very European: relaxed, stylish and welcoming. You quickly feel at ease, whether you’re enjoying a quiet drink, watching the sea go by or simply taking a moment for yourself.
There’s always a place to slow down — and sometimes, that’s all you really need.
My personal conclusion:
For me, Mein Schiff RELAX isn't a party ship, but rather a ship where you can relax and still have a great time. And if you ask me what you absolutely must do, I'd say try out the silent party. It's okay to be sceptical – but please only after you've tried it. 😉
