Day 2: Muscat

Welcome to the Sultanate of Oman
Upon arrival in Muscat, you'll be greeted with a Prime Class VIP Meet & Greet service, ensuring a smooth and fast-tracked entry into the country. You’ll then be transferred to your hotel for an overnight stay.
The next morning begins with a city tour. First stop: the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, built by the Sultan to mark the 25th anniversary of his reign. It is the fifth largest mosque in the world, known for its intricate design, a 14-meter-long Swarovski chandelier, and a single hand-woven carpet covering the entire men's prayer hall – spanning an area of around 4,300 m².
Before entering this sacred space, women must cover their décolleté and hair. Both men and women are required to wear long-sleeved clothing and long trousers or skirts. Transparent fabrics are not permitted for any visitors.
After the mosque, you’ll drive through the diplomatic and government district, reaching the oldest part of the city. There, you’ll visit Bait Al Zubair, a museum that offers fascinating insights into Oman’s cultural heritage. Its impressive collection includes traditional costumes, silver jewelry, and antique furniture.
Next, you'll catch a glimpse of the Al Alam Palace, the ceremonial palace of the Sultan, located in historic Old Muscat. The palace’s architecture reflects royal style from the 1970s and is flanked by the Portuguese forts Jalali and Mirani, dating back to the 16th century.
From there, you’ll follow the Corniche to reach the Muttrah Souk, the oldest market in Oman. Take your time to stroll through its narrow alleys, filled with the scent of frankincense and sandalwood. A local merchant will be happy to tell you about the art of perfume making, silver handicrafts, or the many spices of the Orient.
If time allows, you’ll also enjoy a photo stop at the Royal Opera House on the way back to the hotel.
The evening is yours to enjoy at leisure.

After breakfast, you leave Muscat and begin your journey of discovery into the impressive Hajar Mountains.
In a comfortable 4x4 vehicle, your English-speaking driver-guide takes you through diverse landscapes – past oases, wadis, and historic sites. It’s a scenic and enriching drive filled with cultural highlights.
Your first stop is one of the country’s most modern museums: the Oman Across Ages Museum.
This immersive experience takes you on a fascinating journey through the history and future of the Sultanate – from early settlements to Oman’s modern-day vision. Interactive exhibitions and striking architecture make this visit a treat for all your senses.
Next, you head to the magnificent Jabreen Castle, one of the most beautiful forts in Oman. Originally built in the 17th century, it impresses with ornate ceiling paintings, elegant rooms, and hidden passages – offering a genuine glimpse into the life of Omani nobility in centuries past.
The journey continues to Bahla, known for its traditional craftsmanship.
You’ll visit a local pottery workshop, where skilled artisans use age-old techniques to shape clay into beautiful vessels – a living cultural heritage that is still alive today.
Before reaching the highlands of Jebel Akhdar, you stop in the lush oasis of Birkat Al Mouz, nestled at the foot of the mountains among palm groves.
This is one of the finest examples of the traditional falaj irrigation system, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
By late afternoon, you arrive at Jebel Akhdar – the "Green Jewel of Oman" – where, at over 2,000 metres above sea level, you'll enjoy a refreshing mountain climate and spectacular views.
Day 4: Leisure or Exploration on the Saiq Plateau
Today is yours to enjoy – relax at your hotel or head out with your driver-guide to explore the Saiq Plateau.
At 2,000 metres above sea level, the plateau offers stunning views over rocky highlands and terraced plantations.
Here, you’ll find peach, apricot, and almond trees, while pomegranates are harvested between August and September. In March, millions of roses bloom across the hillsides. In winter, nighttime temperatures can drop to 0°C. You may choose to go on a scenic hike or visit the traditional mountain village of Wadi Bani Habib.
The day’s program is flexible and can be arranged directly with your driver.

At the lively Nizwa Souk, you can admire and purchase beautifully handcrafted silver jewellery and traditional pottery.
You’ll also visit the Nizwa Fort, built in 1668 – the most visited national monument in Oman. The fort is a testament to the military architecture and strategic planning of earlier times. Its most striking feature is the massive round tower, offering sweeping views over the city and the surrounding mountains.
In the evening, you arrive at the unique 1000 Nights Camp, idyllically located in the heart of the golden dunes of the Wahiba Desert.

Legend has it that the famous seafarer Sinbad the Sailor was born here.
During a stroll through the harbor town, be sure to visit a traditional dhow shipyard, where Oman’s iconic wooden sailing ships are still built by hand – without nails or glue. Here, you’ll get a fascinating up-close look at this living craft tradition.
